Guitarist, composer and leader of Andy Mac’s Hot 5-tet, I’m passionate about keeping the spirit of New Orleans traditional jazz alive. From Louis Armstrong to King Oliver, from Django Reinhardt to Fats Waller, the music I love to play is rooted in 20’s and 30’s jazz — and interpreted with a distinctly Montreal sensibility.

The Music
Early jazz is much more than a style ~ it’s a living tradition. It carries the energy of the street parade, the intimacy of the blues and the joy of collective improvisation. With the Hot 5-tet, I explore this tradition with originality: giving the classic repertoire a local colour, telling stories between the tunes, and inviting the audience into the music.
Whether on a concert stage, at a festival or at a private event, the goal is always the same ~ to make early jazz feel alive.
